The National Hospital situated in Colombo in a 32acre block of land is the largest teaching hospital in Sri Lanka. It is the training centre for under graduates and post graduate trainees of the Faculty of Medicine. The nursing training school, Colombo, PBS, and Schools of Radiography, Pharmacy, Cardiograph, physiotherapy and occupational therapy are also affiliated to the National Hospital.

Doctor’s Lounge of NHSL is the rest room for more than 7000 doctors who are currently working at NHSL. The rest room is operating 24x7 in 365 days providing modern amenities for relaxation and meeting purposes.

The “Doctors Cricket Sixes” organized by the Doctors Welfare Society of NHSL was a one-of-a-kind event which was graced by Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya and other prominent doctors in Colombo. The event catered to a very specific target audience of Doctors from six of Colombo’s most prominent hospitals; NATIONAL HOSPITAL – COLOMBO (NHSL), INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITAL (IDH), CASTLE STREET HOSPITAL FOR WOMEN, COLOMBO SOUTH TEACHING HOSPITAL – KALUBOWILA, LADY RIDGEWAY HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN & DE SOYSA HOSPITAL FOR WOMEN.
